windows movie maker is a B****

it keeps freezing and its fan-freaking annoying. plus, the rain is putting a halt on going out to ask people their "Top 3". it seems like all the forces of the bloody universe are against us! but, we only have a few more clips to upload and we need to find the still pictures. hopefully, we'll be able to finish by Friday...if everyone shows up and the damn computer stops freezing!!!!

plus, i cant stop thinking about the Mt. Vernon shooting. some people are really heartless sometimes; to take the lives of innocent people who were minding their own business. it makes you wonder what the world is coming to, when people can't even hang out with their friends for an evening without the possibility of being shot.

i want this documentary to be really good, so it will give the people who watch it something to think about.

My reaction to the murder that happened 2 weeks ago is this; it was cruel, heartless and just plain unhuman. My love goes to the famliy of the victims and hopefully the people who commited this cruel crime will be caught.

its going slow...and the uploading process is really annoying. however, we got the first scene sort of done, and now all we have to do is upload the rest and edit. but we need to go out tomorrow and interview people - ask them about the "Top 3" things they want to change about the community. we also made Grafitti titles for the beginningt of each new topic.

...aaaaaaaaand we just lost everything. great! now we need to start the editing over. faaaaaaaabulous!!!

Today was a very good day. My group and I were very successful and we started to learn how to edit the video. I created an example clip just to see how it would come out and it was very good. So I am very excited to start putting the video together..

we got pretty far today. we learned to use Movie Maker and do transitions and such...so i think we'll actually be able to start uploading clips and putting them together next time. so far, its looking good!!!

A community is a neighborhood that shares a spirit. When we can come together as a group of individuals who understand the issues that we face, and build relationships and trust one another we respect and connect spiritually with each other. We show pride by working towards change for the better.

Today was a progressive day and I think Tomarrow we'll be ready to edit the film and start building up.

we have the layout for the documentary planned out...but we still have to find most of the video clips and then edit and stuff. its damn complicated! hopefully we finish in time...since we only have a week left. but so far, what we have planned is looking good.

Community was defined by the working groups of the ULEC Youth Media Program who came together to develop their assessment of community~~~

community: is a neighborhood that shares a spirit; a group of individuals who lead by example to build relationships and trust with one another. Where families can feel safe going outside and having a good time. When families come together and unite, give hope to other families, and respect and connect with each other. Who show pride and care about where they live by working towards a change for the better.

WHY WE NEED COMMUNITY MEDIA

The social and cultural movements of the sixties demonstrated how people outside formal circles of power can use popular media to communicate opinions and information about issues largely ignored by the mainstream media. Social justice-themed media messages helped lead to discussion, action, and ultimately policy changes and legal decisions that affected millions.

“What’s going on?” the late singer Marvin Gaye asked in 1968 as the Vietnam War claimed the lives of thousands of young men. At home, African Americans faced increasingly desperate economic conditions in U.S. cities. “Can’t find no work, can’t find no jobs, my friend. Money is tighter than it’s ever been. What’s happening, brother?”

The opportunity for people to form opinions about “what’s going on” is central to any democracy. To form such opinions, people must have real information about their own communities and the larger society. Under our current corporate-dominated media system, people of color, women, youth, immigrants, gays, people with disabilities, the elderly—groups which, taken together, are a majority of our citizenry—have been silenced and kept ignorant of one another’s perspectives. Their voices are left out of public discourse, which means they have little influence on policies and laws. The challenge before us is how to make and keep the democratic ideal real—to create and maintain a media that echoes with the voices, ideas, and perspectives of all of the people in society.

Access to the media is an essential feature of any modern movement for social change and therefore “media justice” is a necessary prerequisite to “social justice.” If we are to achieve justice for all, then all people must have equitable, democratic access to the media.

The opportunity for people to form opinions about what’s going on” is central to any democracy.

A central feature of all successful, modern social-justice campaigns is an ability to communicate through the media. Building connections with friendly mainstream journalists is important, but community- access TV is an important vehicle for speaking directly to citizens without being filtered by corporate media gatekeepers. Genuine social justice will only come when those who thirst for justice are able to “frame the issue” and “shape the debate.”

Community-access TV and the Internet are two places where this can happen. The real people, in real neighborhoods can inform themselves, as well as the masses about "what's really going on" in their community.

Movies, movies, and more movies! I just cannot get enough of watching movies because they give me the sense of adventure. It's like I have seen the world. I would love to travel the world some day and learn as much as possible about different cultures. I want to study how cultures behave differently and why that occurs. Psychology is my field of interest. I always wanted to study the human mind to understand it more. Maybe some day I will discover the secret of why people act the way they do, but until then, I will enjoy my teenage years.

The activities I enjoy doing include snowboarding, surfing the net, watching tv and movies, and just kicking back and enjoying life. The quote that I live my life by is: "Live life, live long".

movies are my life. i watch them, i comment on them, i buy them all the time. if i had to count, i'd say i had over 80 movies at home...including seasons of television shows -- and i LOVE them all!!! from RENT, Black Hawk Down, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence to Without a Trace and Firefly...you name it, and chances are i own it or i've heard of it and have yet to add it to my ever growing pile.

but my love of movies is not all that i am. i am an artist, an author, a reader, a musician, and a historian. i am never without my MP3 player, a drawing pad, or a good book -- whether it be a school assignment or something for my own amusement; i play the piano (i know songs like 'Seasons of Love' from RENT or the theme from FullMetal Alchemist) and am a collector of soundtracks; i write random short stories based on the Lord of the Rings universe and post them online; and someday i hope to be an archeologist so that i can be among those who fill in the many blanks of the history of the world.

my world is what i make it...and my world is one of heroes and dragons.
