Urban League of Essex County

2007 Summer Youth Media Program
The Urban League of Essex County's mission is to assist African American and other disadvantaged urban residents in the achievement of social and economic equality. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Democracy is founded on the bedrock principal that “the people” should be active and “engaged” in the affairs of their community; making decisions about important matters that improve the quality of life for all residents. Community participation creates an important dialogue between the community and those elected or appointed to represent the community’s agenda. In communities where civic engagement is high, resources tend to be more effective. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The 2007 Summer Youth Media Program is one of several programs run by ULEC to help bring the community together to make positive change. The youth involved in the program will use photos, testimonials, and video interviews to listen to the interests of the community and report back about what they learned.
